How to Delete Albums on iPhone

Some third-party apps like Instagram and Twitter automatically create Photo Albums on your iPhone. Even after you delete a particular app, its associated Album still remains. Over time, this may clog up your iPhone. So it’s a good idea to regularly check and delete Photo Albums that you no longer need to clear up the clutter in Photos.

  • When you Delete a Photo Album, it doesn’t delete any photos that are inside the album.
  • Some Photo Albums on your iPhone can be deleted, while others can’t.
  • If you’ve synced your iPhone with iCloud, deleting an Album will remove it from all other synced devices.

How to Delete Albums on iPhone

Step 1. Launch the Photos app.

Step 3. Tap the See All button next to My Albums.

Step 4. You’ll see a grid of all your albums. Tap Edit on the top right corner of the screen.

Step 5. You’re now in the editing mode, you can drag and drop albums to rearrange them if you want.

Step 6. To delete a Photo Album, tap the Red minus button found in the top-left corner of the album.

At this point, the Album will be removed from the My Albums list. Repeat steps 6 & 7 to delete multiple albums from your iPhone. When you’re done, tap on the Done button to go back to browsing your albums.

Why you can't Delete some Albums on iPhone

If you’ve synced your iPhone with iTunes to manage photos and videos, deleting some albums may not be possible. If you wish to delete them, you’ll need to go through iTunes again.

You can’t delete default Photo Albums on your iPhone like Camera Roll/ Recents, People & Places Albums, and Media Types Albums.
